SITUATION:
BOND provided construction management services for the relocation of the General Internal Medicine (GIM) practice from the main hospital into a medical office facility next door. The 35,500 SF facility includes 80 new exam rooms and doctors’ offices that will assist in streamlining patient care.
CHALLENGES:
- Maintain aggressive schedule to meet opening date
- Occupied building construction during relocation
- Accommodation of design changes
SOLUTIONS:
- Worked closely with Lahey Hospital team to ensure timely delivery
- Close coordination with building operator
- Utilized Lean principles and the Last Planner System® in Touchplan technology/software to accelerate project progress
RESULTS:
- Project completed a month earlier
- 4% savings returned to owner/client
- Minimized disturbance to active medical facility and office
- The QA/QC process assisted in diminishing unknowns and an increased efficiency of the project
