Our Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Situation:

Stonehill College engaged BOND to provide preconstruction and construction management services for its new 65,000 SF newly-established School of Business to be named after W.B. Mason CEO Leo J. Meehan. The state-of-the-art $30 million building will change the face of Stonehill’s campus, offering cutting-edge technology and adaptive, modern classrooms and collaboration spaces. The building’s construction will begin in Spring 2018 and it will open for the following academic year. The building will be located in the heart of the campus in the main quad and is part of a new campus revitalization effort.

Challenges:

  • Construction within an occupied campus
  • Work with planning teams to develop a detailed schedule for preconstruction and construction process to minimize disruption to an active campus
  • Coordination between many stakeholders to complete work

Solutions:

  • Development of a phased construction approach that included working during off-peak hours to mitigate any potential disruption
  • Fine tune the project’s specifications to best suit the project needs
  • Creation of detail mitigation plans and protocols to ensure safe conditions

Results:

  • Delivery of environmentally-responsible project on track, within budget
  • Slated for completion in August 2019
  • Strengthens Stonehill’s well-established and successful programs in business administration, economics and healthcare administration
